Catering for a global audience is difficult, Tom takes us through a ‘timezones’ style explanation of the things you need to keep in mind when internationalising your code.

Some languages have a different word for 1 of something, 2 of something and more. German has special rules about the appearance of ß at the beginning of a sentence so capitalization is hard. Some languages have different verb endings depending on the gender of the subject.

You’ve got to worry about left-to-right languages and word truncation. You’ve got to make sure all your elements can support text of various lengths.
